•  Are you a student or do you work?

I graduated a few years back and im now in full-time employment. Im also doing my masters part time

 

• Where do you work?

Im currently a network engineer working for data management systems PVT Ltd which is a fully owned Sri Lankan company

 

•  What is your role?

I am specialized in networking and voice technologies which means Im more into configuration of devices which are internet connectivity and telephones.

 

• What do you like your job?

My jobs involves a lot of hands-on experience with different advanced technology which is one main reason why im loving my job. The fact that I get to travel around is another reason why I chose this job.

 

• Do you plan to continue in this job?

Yes I do. I am still at the primary stages of my job and I have lot to learn. Im planning to complete the CCNP level in computer networking which is the professional level for a network engineer. Likewise there are a lot more I can achieve over the years.

• Are there lots of network engineers in your City?

There are a lot of Computer network students graduating every year but its hard to find jobs since there are a limited number of networking companies in Colombo. So some work their way up in different fields and others keep trying.

 

•  Do you get on well with your co-workers?

Yes. Most of my coworkers are of the same age except for a few so its really easy to work with them. Our company is a small one so everyone’s nice to each other and very corporative.

 

•  What was your first day at work like?

It wasn’t that easy I should say. I wasn’t given any work on the very first day other than to fill some documents. But then I managed to survive and made some friends too.

• Why did you choose that job?

When I was in college I always wanted to become a doctor but then with time I realized that I was more keen and capable of handling technological stuff. And with time I fell in love with the subject I should say. That’s when I decided to follow a degree program on computer network and security. I should say I’ve taken a good decision.

 

• Do you enjoy your job?

Yes I do. I get to work with a lot of new people and companies and also be to places Ive never been. Most of all, I love working with technology like Ive told you before.

·        Many people prefer to spend money and not save it. What are the reasons? Is this a positive or negative development?

A lot of individuals use up a lot of money and does not keep it for future endeavors. This essay will discuss what are the reasons for using up a lot of money and whether it is an advantage or a disadvantage on the growth of individuals.

Increase in expenditures involves a lot of reasons in the current day scenario with the change in social and economic requirements as well as impacts. From an economical point of view, the cost of living in most of the countries are on the rise which is why most individuals have to spend all their earnings on living and there is little less to save. On the other hand, human needs and requirements also keep increasing as a result a lot of people spend most of or all of their earnings on good and services. With the increase in requirements and the change in environment, people are sometimes made to use up a lot of money on unwanted things which is sometimes unavoidable with the society they live in.

In my opinion, spending a lot of money and not being able to save will have a negative effect on the development of people’s lives in the future. Saving up money will always be useful for people, since it can be used for any requirement and in times of difficulty. But, if money is spent on unwanted requirement which will not have a long-lasting impact on the individuals to carry on their lives, then it is always required to think twice before these expenditures are considered.

In conclusion, the habit of saving up even a little sum of money will be very helpful in the future and it is always required to do so since the future is unpredictable and it is better to get ready.

·        Some people think it is a good thing for senior management positions to have very high salaries compared to other workers of the same company or organization. To what extent do you agree?

It is considered decent by some, for top level administration roles to have more wages related to other employees of the similar organization. In my opinion, employees including top level management need to be paid according to their educational level and experience which will be good for everyone and for the organization.

On one hand, senior managerial roles need to be paid well and much more compared to other employees within the organization. Managerial positions within an organization plays a huge role in the process of conducting work and aligning employees to different tasks. Even though it is not seen as they are getting involved in a lot of work like the rest of the employees, it is always the higher positions who brings up business to the company and meanwhile undergo a lot of stress.

On the other hand, it is also not right and ethical to pay a huge sum of money to top level employees while other employees are not treated well within an organization. Skills, education and knowledge must also be considered when deciding a price for an employee regardless of the position. If this is done only more value will be given to educated and skilled individuals within organizations and within the society.

In my opinion, it is always important for organizations to be bias and to decide on reasonable pay grades to all employees including top level manages.
